Mr. Rice serves as the President and General Manager of ABILITY Network. In this role, he is responsible for the overall management, operation and performance of ABILITY. Prior to joining ABILITY, Mr. Rice held a number of executive leadership positons at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBSMN). Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, responsible for operations, strategy, finance, enterprise technology, and business transformation of BCBSMN. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Health Plan Operations and Chief Technology Officer, a role in which he led BCBSMN’s Health Plan Operations, Information Technology and Data Insights. He also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Before joining BCBSMN, Mr. Rice served eight years at UnitedHealth Group in various leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer of UnitedHealthcare, Vice President of Finance for UnitedHealthcare and Chief Financial Officer of UnitedHealth Networks. In addition to his roles at BCBSMN and UnitedHealthcare, Mr. Rice has held positions at Yukon Partners Management, LLC and Best Buy. Mr. Rice began his career as a certified public accountant at Arthur Anderson.
Mr. Rice is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration, accounting. He is also a Board Member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Minnesota.
