Associate/Senior Associate; State Policy

Through events, publications, and interactive programs, Avalere insights are accessible to a broad range of customers.</p> <p>Avalere Health is seeking a Associate/Senior Associate to join its Policy practice. The Policy practice focuses on a range of issues including ongoing federal and state discussion around health reform, federal and state implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), health insurance exchanges, and much more. We rely on deep subject-matter expertise and understanding of the business issues facing our clients to assess how this changing policy landscape impacts the pharmaceutical industry, managed care plans, providers, and consumers. This position would focus primarily on commercial insurance policy, reform, regulation, and strategy, but would also leverage subject-matter expertise across the full range of Avalere’s health policy issues.</p> <p>The primary responsibility of the<strong> Associate/Senior Associate</strong>: State Policy is to track state legislation and regulation and write content for our State Policy 360 product related to state health policy developments and trends relevant to client interests. Content spans a broad range of healthcare issues, including state approaches to Medicaid, the individual insurance market, drug pricing, telehealth, and emerging policy areas. Interested candidates should have a broad understanding of a variety of healthcare policy topics at the state level, demonstrate strong writing and legislative tracking skills, and be able to meet quick turnaround deadlines. Background in state legislative and regulatory processes is required.</p> <p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as primary writer of content for State Policy 360, a monthly analysis of ongoing health policy activity, and an online archive of state-level legislative and regulatory developments;</li> <li>Produce short-form summaries of major legislation, regulations, and events, as needed;</li> <li>Track and monitor state legislation and regulation, Medicaid program changes, and other healthcare policy developments, identifying trends across states or emerging “hot topics” of interest to subscribing customers;</li> <li>Collaborate with subject matter experts across Avalere to translate information about new developments and emerging trends into actionable insights for our customers;</li> <li>Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;</li> <li>Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and</li> <li>Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Employer.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Job Requirements:</strong></p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>1-3 years of experience in a healthcare policy role focused on research and/or content development;</li> <li>Experience monitoring state legislative and/or regulatory processes using subscription-based tracking services or public state websites;</li> <li>Excellent writing skills and experience writing clear, engaging articles, white papers, or other policy communications on complex issues;</li> <li>Ability to meet quick-turnaround deadlines and re-prioritize workload;</li> <li>Strong editing and proofreading skills;</li> <li>Demonstrated interest in a broad range of healthcare policy topics at the state level;</li> <li>High-quality work product and project management skills;</li> <li>Experience working collaboratively and communicating effectively with teams; and</li> <li>High level of initiative and ability to work independently.</li> </ul> <p>Additional Skills and Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask;</li> <li>Sound analytic and problem-solving skills;</li> <li>Ability to locate and procure information from disparate sources; and</li> <li>Ability to work across multiple groups.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Education:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in public policy, public health, public administration, business, economics, or other related fields.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Demands and Work Environment:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Sedentary work ( i.e. sitting for long periods of time);</li> <li>Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;</li> <li>Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;</li> <li>Subject to inside environmental conditions; and</li> <li>Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally, usually for training purposes.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p><em>The Company maintains a drug free work environment for all of its associates, which includes employees, contractors and vendors.
