The high burden of oral medications to manage uncontrollable motor movements and depression/anxiety for elderly patients with advanced Parkinson’s Disease are associated with complex medication regimens impacting quality of life and adherence. A retrospective observational administrative claims database study (2014-2018) of device-aided therapies, deep brain stimulation and continuous delivery of carbidopa/levodopa enteral suspension, assessed their efficacy in oral pill reduction of 100% Medicare Fee-For-Service patients. Study findings showed that carbidopa/levodopa enteral suspension was associated with a significant and sustained decline in pill burden through a 12-month follow-up period.
