Grant NortonDirector, Revenue Cycle Process Improvement, St. Mary's Healthcare (Amsterdam, NY)

Professional Bio

Grant Norton, MBA, MS, CHFP, CRCR, is Director, Revenue Cycle Process Improvement at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY. Since joining St. Mary’s in February 2023 as a senior business analyst, Grant quickly earned a reputation for his collaborative approach and sharp eye for improving billing and revenue cycle workflows, leading to his promotion to director just over a year later. Before stepping into revenue cycle leadership, he built a diverse healthcare operations background across New York’s Capital Region, including roles as practice manager for system outreach at Albany Med Health System, performance consultant for the Healthy Alliance social care network, and manager of pediatrics at Ellis Medicine. Grant is also a contributor to the MEDITECH Blog, where he writes on strategies for improving cash flow and streamlining revenue cycle operations.

Entry Details

Grant was named Innovator of the Year for leading a sustainable revenue cycle transformation at St. Mary’s Healthcare, a mid-size, independent Disproportionate Share Hospital serving a low-income, vulnerable community in Amsterdam, NY. Grant and his team consolidated the hospital’s outpatient practices onto a single Meditech EHR and integrated it with Inovalon Revenue Cycle solutions to power a modern, automated revenue cycle workflow.

Over a two-year period, St. Mary’s added more than 60 providers and grew monthly claims volume 26.8% (from 35,500 to 45,000) without expanding the billing team. By leveraging more than 100 Meditech and clearinghouse rules to automate account validation, the organization cut clearinghouse billing edits nearly 49% (from 10,049 to 5,095), while real-time visibility through Expanse Revenue Cycle’s Financial Status Desktop strengthened financial oversight and accelerated cash collections.

Quality Measures Data Product (QMDP) TeamMVP Health Care

Organization Bio

MVP Health Care is a nationally recognized, not-for-profit regional health plan headquartered in Schenectady, NY. Founded in 1983 as Mohawk Valley Physicians’ Health Plan, MVP now serves more than 700,000 members across New York and Vermont, continuing a 30-year legacy of quality and integrity. Founded by doctors, MVP partners closely with healthcare providers to optimize member care, backed by a regional network of more than 19,000 providers and facilities and a national network exceeding 500,000 providers. The organization offers a full range of health benefit plans — including Medicare, Medicaid, and employer-sponsored coverage — combined with wellness programs designed to reduce health risks and control costs.

Entry Details

The QMDP Team was selected for the Data Dream Team award for architecting and deploying the Quality Measures Data Product (QMDP), a first-of-its-kind enterprise data product built in partnership with Inovalon’s HEDIS data platform. The team consolidated quality measurement data that had been fragmented across claims, enrollment, pharmacy, supplemental clinical, and EHR feeds into a single, governed source of truth, creating a more transparent and actionable foundation for quality measurement across the organization.

The modernization cut data refresh time from roughly 18 days to under 48 hours and saves approximately 25 analyst hours during every monthly refresh cycle. Richer, rolling and offset measurement periods produced more precise member-level care gap lists, allowing MVP to expand from one care gap reminder to 20 across preventive screenings, immunizations, and chronic disease monitoring. The team also redesigned vendor extract generation to run two to four times faster, and improved audit readiness enough to cut some regulatory response times by as much as tenfold.

Ardon Health

Organization Bio

Ardon Health is an independent specialty pharmacy founded in 2014 on the belief that healthcare is at its best when it’s compassionate and personalized. Founded in Portland, Oregon, Ardon maintains a strong regional presence in the Pacific Northwest while providing specialty medications and personalized care to patients in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. The pharmacy delivers care across multiple therapeutic areas, supported by centers of excellence in oncology, neurology, and immunology, and is trusted by health plans nationwide. Ardon is accredited for specialty pharmacy by both URAC and ACHC, holds ACHC Distinction in Oncology, and was recognized as “Specialty Pharmacy of the Year” by the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy in 2017. With patients at the center of every decision, Ardon collaborates closely with providers, manufacturers, payers, and advocacy organizations to improve access, adherence, and outcomes for people managing complex, chronic conditions.

Entry Details

Ardon Health was selected for the Collective Excellence Award for partnering with Inovalon to replace three disconnected systems with ScriptMed, a single, unified pharmacy platform. Bringing a strong information technology background to the initiative, president Heather Ardon, and her team sought a partner that would collaborate through implementation and drive meaningful operational change rather than simply install software — describing Inovalon as showing up as an extension of the Ardon team.

The consolidation simplified daily operations for care teams and created a scalable foundation for growth, without disrupting the high-touch patient experience Ardon is known for. Within nine months of going live, MyShare patient engagement grew 537% (from 1,045 patients in November 2025 to 6,659 by June 2026), and script volume nearly doubled (from 16,413 shipments in Q4 2025 to 30,658 in Q2 2026) — demonstrating stronger efficiency and trust in the new platform.
