Barton T. Jones

Senior Director, Research Science and Advanced Analytics

Barton applies his background in statistics and epidemiology, along with expertise using large health-related databases, to perform data engineering and advanced analytic tasks in support of various projects and products. Barton has been with Inovalon for more than 10 years in various positions consulting with internal and external stakeholders.

Barton’s most recent role was Senior Research Scientist with Avalere Health, with Avalere Health where he advised pharmaceutical companies and health plans on a wide range of topics, including studies related to quality measure development, population health, HEOR, comparative effectiveness and safety, and program evaluation. Prior to that he was a Health Data Scientist on the Research, Development, and Analytics team, where he was responsible for quality measure development work with NCQA, analyzing the disparities in the Star-Five Quality Rating system, and disease management program evaluation related to cost, clinical, utilization, and satisfaction outcomes. Presently, he serves as Director, Research Science and Advanced Analytics.

Before joining Inovalon, Barton was a research intern at the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan, responsible for developing protocols for documenting data checks, assisting with quality control of case report forms, and establishing parameters for code books and data dictionaries.

Barton earned an MS in biostatistics from the University of Michigan with a cognate in epidemiology and a BS in mechanical engineering from Wilkes University with minors in mathematics, physics, and statistics.
