Executive Summary
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive condition causing motor and non-motor symptoms that affects millions of people worldwide and significantly reduces quality of life.
This white paper, grounded in peer-reviewed research led by Christie Teigland, Ph.D., explores how social drivers of health (SDOH) influence access to advanced Parkinson’s disease (aPD) treatments. Using 100% Medicare Fee-for-Service claims data from 2017–2020, linked with Inovalon’s SDOH data warehouse, the study reveals critical disparities and highlights opportunities to advance equity and expand access.
