The role of technology took center stage at NHIA 2023
Touted as the leading conference dedicated to home and alternate site infusion, NHIA 2023 took place March 25-29 in Washington, D.C. Attendees included professionals spanning the life cycle of infusion delivery and management.
The event was well-timed, given the industry’s ongoing challenges around compiling necessary patient data from disparate sources, the lack of secure interoperability, and the siloed nature of infusion workflows. Infusion pharmacies face increasing complexities, including managing the sites of care, payer and manufacturer contractual requirements, and more. As the pipeline of infused therapies grows, pharmacies must identify ways to meet these needs.
The answer focused on improving pharmacy operations and care delivery through new, innovative technology.
Inovalon President Eron Kelly had the distinct privilege of introducing keynote speaker Dr. Sachin Jain to expand upon this idea. Dr. Jain is recognized as one of the “100 Most influential People in U.S. Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare. He revealed how the application of artificial intelligence and innovative, front-end clinical decision making can help increase access to care for aging and underserved patients at affordable rates.
Inovalon infusion side chat
On day 3 of NHIA 2023, Inovalon hosted a lively discussion in which attendees had the opportunity to learn how technology and innovation are being leveraged to drive operational efficiencies, meet the complexities of payer and pharma SLA requirements, enhance clinical outcomes, enable pharmacies to scale, and improve financial performance.
While enjoying cocktails and refreshments, the standing-room-only crowd saw an overview of ScriptMed® Infusion, Inovalon’s advanced, end-to-end infusion pharmacy software solution.
The presentation began with direct quotes from infusion pharmacies detailing the daily frustrations they face, outlining the need to transform the way specialty and infusion pharmacies operate their business and deliver patient care.
To meet the growing demand for home and ambulatory infusion services, the Inovalon pharmacy team explained how ScriptMed helps simplify the complexities of providing these services and lowers the total cost of care with:
-
- Role-based workflow configurations to save staff time and streamline operations
- A fully cloud-based infrastructure supporting reliable, secure data storage and sharing
- Access to healthcare’s largest primary source dataset to enable data-driven care decisions
Attendees learned that ScriptMed would allow them to start each patient interaction with meaningful, supplemental clinical data – combining EHR data with allergies, medication history, patient metrics, diagnoses, and labs. Repetitive, manual tasks are automated to reduce the risk of human error. And it all happens in a single application that systematically drives every process from referral receipt to delivery.
Rounding out the conference with food, fellowship, and fun
Following the first few days of learning and networking, Inovalon invited guests to a reception at Harbor Social for an evening of fun and friendly competition. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to unwind with great food and drinks while trying their hands at bocce ball, darts, and Jenga.
Inovalon also debuted its redesigned booth to welcome attendees. The new design provides more space to chat or view live demos, and even features a private meeting room. The pharmacy team was still providing demos after the exhibit hall closed and the carpet was being removed!
